Cemetery Charges Amendment Ordinance

The following ordinance was adopted at the Fruitport Charter Township Board meeting on February 8, 2016.

 

FRUITPORT CHARTER TOWNSHIP

ORDINANCE NO. 793

 

CEMETERY CHARGES AMENDMENT ORDINANCE

 

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE FRUITPORT CHARTER TOWNSHIP CODE OF ORDINANCES, SPECIFICALLY BY AMENDING THE CEMETERY CHARGES IN CHAPTER 14.

 

THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF FRUITPORT, COUNTY OF MUSKEGON, STATE OF MICHIGAN, ORDAINS:

 Section 1.        Cemetery Charges.  Section 14-2 in Chapter 14 of the Fruitport Charter Township Code of Ordinances is amended to state in its entirety as follows.

 Sec. 14-2         Cemetery Charges.

             The cemetery charges are hereby affirmed or established as follows.

            Other Services/Fees:

 

            "Right of Burial" Transfers:    $25.00

            Deeds:                                     $25.00

  

            Additional Interment Charges:

 

            All rates are $400.00 more on the following days:  Sundays, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve Day, and New Year's Day.

             All rates are $200.00 more on Saturdays.

             All rates are also $100.00 more for burials scheduled at or after 3:00 p.m. on any weekday.

             Disinterments:

             Double the interment rate with reburial at the standard rate.

             Non-Resident Use of Grave Previously Purchased by Resident

                  If non-resident deceased is a family member of the resident who previously purchased the grave, the resident fee is charged.

             If non-resident deceased is not a family member of the resident who previously purchased the grave, the non-resident fee is charged, as the case may be.

 

            Definition of Family:

 

            "Family" includes a resident's spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild, sibling, sibling-in-law, step child, step child-in-law, step grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew.

 Section 2.        Effective Date.  This Ordinance was approved and adopted by the Township Board on February 8, 2016, after introduction and first reading on January 25, 2016, and publication after the first reading as required by Michigan Act 359 of 1947, as amended.  This Ordinance shall be effective on April 1, 2016.
