Cheryl called the meeting to order.
Departmental Revenues & Expenditures and Disbursement Reports not received.
Ken, Jack, Chad, Sue and Ross surveyed Pine Park for a t-ball location. The area between field 3 and the play area was measured. The t-ball area would fit with 10ft left between the t-ball field and field 3 and play area. The best location is where the current practice fields are located. Ken believes this area will be available in about a year (when soccer has fields of their own at the Sheringer location) and will pursue a t-ball field at Pine Park at that time.
The interest and participation in baseball has increased. Josh is working with a lawyer to reinstate the 501(c) 3 status. Once that is achieved, fundraising will be done. This money will be used for improvement to the baseball fields at Pine Park.
Ross and Josh would like to do some upgrades immediately including improving the mounds, level low areas in the outfield, paint backstops flat black, paint bleachers and benches and add new foul poles at the baseball fields at Pine Park. Cheryl made a motion for Beach Baseball to go ahead with these improvements and with Ken’s recommendation; the Board will give up to $1500 for materials (diamond dust, paint, sod, etc.). Sue seconded the motion. All in favor.
Gary and Sue Pope attended the meeting regarding the possibility to rename Pine Park to George Pressler Park. George Pressler, Jr., contacted Brian Werschem about the naming possibility. George, Sr. lived across the street from Pine Park and began development of the park. Ken will look into any issues with renaming the park after someone and receiving grant funding before we discuss renaming any further.
A church group of 50 people have volunteered to clean up leaves in the parks on November 6th.
Ken is gathering letters of support from the youth clubs for the development of the soccer park for additional points on the grant application. Ken will also look into placing a sign designating the Sheringer parcel as the future home of the soccer park.
Josh informed us that Beach Football noticed that items were missing or used from the concession stand, i.e., cases of pop, canister of coffee, etc., and would like to make sure any outside groups using the facilities know that these items are not to be used in future.
Cheryl adjourned the meeting.
Next meeting set for Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 at 6pm at the Township Hall.
